Circle of Doom Character Report

I recently read this book.  It is good.  It's about magic, bullies, and miracles.  You should read it.

After I read it, I wrote a character report.  I had to pick one of the main characters and find five objects around the house to represent the character.  Then I had to identify 3 supporting characters and 2 main problems and the solutions.  Then I had to make a timeline of the ten biggest events in the story.  Drumroll please . . .

Main Character: Max
Five objects that represent Max:

The Barbie doll represents the Dumplings, Max's imaginary family of friends. The Dumplings are Max's best and only friends because Max's family lives in the middle of nowhere and he is bullied at school.

The shield represents how Max wants Nathan (the bully) to stop bullying at school. He wants to be able to shield himself from Nathan's mean ways.   

The witch's hat represents how Max thinks magic runs in the family and wants to learn it.

The two stuffed animals hugging represent how Max wants some real best friends in his life.

The cup and perfume represent the potion that Lizzie, Max's sister, made for Max to get back at Nathan.

3 Supporting Characters:

Lizzie is Max's sister, and she makes him a potion so that he can get revenge on his bully, Nathan.

Dan is Max's brother. When Max breaks Dan's spitfire model, that he has just finished making after 3 months, Dan asks Lizzie to make the Dumplings go away to get back at Max.

Nathan is a bully. He likes to pick on Max because he is much bigger than Max. He takes Max's soda and candy from his lunch.

2 Main Problems in the Story and The Solutions:

Problem 1: Max is being bulled at school.

Problem 2: Max's family lives in the middle of nowhere, so he has 0 friends.

Solution 1: Max's sister gives Max a potion that has dog pee and beer in it, and Nathan, the bully, drinks it. Nathan gets very sick and stops bullying Max.

Solution 2: Max makes up a whole family of people named the Dumplings. The Dumplings are just like normal people - they grow up and move away, just like what happens to all of us.  But when one Dumpling moves away, they are replaced with another Dumpling for Max to play with.  

Timeline of Events:

1. The Potwards ruin Lizzie's birthday.
2. Lizzie casts a spell on the Potwards.
3. The very next day, Ms. Potward breaks her hip and they move to an old people center.
4. Lizzie starts her career as a witch.
5. Lizzie casts a new spell on the worst teacher in the school.
6. Mrs. Fish, Lizzie's teacher, gets sick all over the hall.
7. Max breaks Dan's almost-just-perfect model of the spitfire.
8. To get back at Max, Dan asks Lizzie to make a potion to make the Dumplings go away.
9. To say sorry for getting rid of the Dumplings, Lizzie gives Max a potion to curse Nathan, his bully.
10. Nathan takes the potion, that has beer and dog pee in it, and drinks it and gets very sick.  He stops bullying Max.
